2023 JURY
Thank you to the 2023 Jury for their dedication to independent filmmaking by reviewing all the submitted films for the 2023 Festival.
Hannah Yohannes - Hannah is a distinguished Eritrean director, producer and writer, renowned for her exceptional contributions to the world of cinema. Her critically-acclaimed and award-winning short film, "Home Away," earned widespread recognition and was featured on Issa Rae’s Short Film Sunday Series.
Recently, she directed "The Crown," a captivating CFC film in collaboration with the extraordinary composer, Kaia Kater. Hannah is currently immersed in her upcoming project, "Little Dreams," partnering with the phenomenal writer, Chattrisse Dolabaille, and developing her new series, "Mutuals."
Ilish Oliver - Ilish is an alumni to the Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival, having participated as a teenager as an actress and filmmaker. She has a Fine Arts Certificate from Canterbury High School and graduated from Vancouver Acting School in 2016.
Ilish spent several years working as an agent in Vancouver before transitioning into Casting, where she has worked on close to 100 Network and Streaming Based TV Series’ and Movies.
Élise Beaudry-Ferland - Élise is a graduate of the University of Regina Film and Video program and is now a producer at Prairie Cat Productions Inc. She has produced work for Telefilm, the Accessibility Network, SK Arts, Canada Council for the Arts, SGI, Safer Roads Canada, and CBC. Élise co-produced the documentary Humboldt: The New Season, which premiered August 2019 on CBC and was nominated for Best Documentary Program at the 2020 Canadian Screen Awards.
In 2022, Élise co-produced the short film Pen Pals, which is now playing at multiple festivals internationally. She has also served as an event organizer as well as festival director and coordinator at film festivals such as the Regina International Film Festival.
Robert Bockstael - An award-winning actor, Robert has played lead roles in a multitude of television series and films. As well as being a prolific voice and stage actor, he is also a director, teacher, and much sought after acting coach. Robert has written for TV, film and theatre and has been published in literary magazines across North America.
His debut novel – the ‘Propulsively cinematic thriller’ Willow’s Run - is garnering accolades internationally. Check out robertbockstael.com for more.
