Ottawa creatives can meet producers from CBC Scripted, CBC Ottawa and CBC Creator Network to learn how to work with & pitch ideas to CBC.

 

Let's Work with CBC!

In this workshop/panel discussion for Ottawa filmmakers, writers, directors and creators, we are going to hear from producers at CBC Ottawa, CBC Scripted and CBC Creator Network about what they are looking for in projects from emerging Ottawa creators as well as best practices for project submissions or
pitches. This discussion will include an opportunity for Q&A from the audience. This workshop will be presented in English only.

  • Adele Cardamone-Martel - CBC Ottawa

This event is a PWYC event with a suggested minimum donation of $5. This workshop/panel will include a 45 minute discussion and a 15 minute Q&A at the end. This is not a pitching opportunity. This event is open to everyone from everywhere who is interested in working with CBC, but will have a large focus on how creatives in Ottawa-Gatineau can get involved as writers, producers, creatives, and content creators.

Micah Kernan is the Development Manager for both Drama and Comedy. She coordinates the management, tracking and distribution of projects. She supports the team by evaluating pitches and being the point of contact for creators to connect with CBC.

Micah is the current Programmer for Canada's longest running short film showcase, Canadian Reflections. At the CBC, inclusion is priority and this means Micah works to reflect all of the regions and the country's diversity, while programming for Canadian Reflections.

Adele Cardamone-Martel is an award-winning Executive Producer at CBC with more than 30 years of production experience in arts, entertainment, music, lifestyle, talk and documentary programming on CBC Television, CBC Gem and CBC Radio. This includes the Absolutely Canadian series for Ontario, which showcases regional independent documentaries and short films, as well as CBC Ottawa's weekly talk and current affairs/magazine program, Our Ottawa. Adele works closely with independent filmmakers, directors and post-secondary film/broadcast students and professors throughout the Ontario region, which includes mentorship and program development. Adele has also produced and directed many network programs and co-productions such as the multiple award-winning and nominated series Music Works, Creative Block, and Solo (New York Festival, Gracie, Gabriel and CSA).

Christine Maki is an award-winning producer with CBC Ottawa's content diversification and creator network unit. What this means is she works with storytellers across the community to tell stories in all different ways, from first person written pieces to creative videos, to everything in between. Before this, she spent 10 years putting together CBC radio's Ottawa Morning show, and before that she worked for a smattering of programs for CBC in both Toronto and Quebec City. She likes riding bikes, reading books, playing music and uncovering something new.
