Feature film director Max McGuire sits down in an intimate conversation with registered filmmakers about their films screened at Digi60. He reviews jury notes and commentary, while asking questions and providing concise and constructive feedback to the filmmaker. This constructive workshop has been a hit for several years, and isn’t to be missed for new and emerging filmmakers who want to grow and improve their filmmaking. A great opportunity to get insight from one of Ottawa’s busiest directors!
This is an in-person workshop for Registered Filmmakers only, with a maximum of 8 participants.
COVID-19 protocols will be in place, including proof of double vaccination, social distancing and masking.
Biography
Max is a feature film director, and occasional writer. As a writer and director he's been financed by Telefilm Canada, OMDC, Canada Council for the Arts, CJOH TV development fund, Harold Greenberg Fund, and a number of private institutions and distributors. Foreverland, his most personal film, was distributed theatrically, on airplanes and on TMN by Eone in Canada, it was sold internationally by Vision Films and by FilmBuff in the USA. Foreverland stars Max Thieriot (Bates Motel), Laurence Leboeuf (Turbo Kid), and Oscar nominees Juliette Lewis (Cape Fear) and Demian Bichir (The Bridge) along with Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Frewer and Thomas Dekker. Max is developing a feature length thriller, "Wounded", which was invited to the International Film Finance Forum at TIFF and the IFP No Borders Market in NYC with development funding from OMDC and Telefilm Canada. Max has directed 18 features in Ottawa and counting, including a top ten Netflix holiday movie. The rest of which can be seen on network TV in the USA and around the world.
