Speaking to active, working producers in Ottawa we will discuss and share their experiences in starting their careers, community, what has impacted them and their work, and the direction their careers have led them, we will also discuss how emerging producers can build and grow their careers in Ottawa and the opportunities available to them.
Zainab Muse, CEO & Founder, Creatorland Inc.
Zainab Muse is a Nigerian-Canadian producer, director and writer. She has directed and produced feature-length and series formats, along with music videos, short films and documentaries for Canadian broadcasters, CBC and Bell. She owns CREATORLAND, an independent production company with a mission to produce stories that advance and amplify the narratives of unheard voices and underserved people. In 2022, she was selected as a fellow of the Netflix - BANFF Diversity of Voices Initiative, and a fellow of the Black Screen Office (BSO) and Directors Guild of Canada (DGC)'s Black Women Directors Accelerator.
Christine Maki, Producer, CBC Creator Network

Keren Jackman, Senior Producer, Gusto Worldwide Media
For the past two decades, Keren has worked as a producer and director on a wide range of content, including lifestyle, factual and documentary series. Whether food, fashion or culture, her focus is on telling compelling human stories connected to the subjects that bind us together. Her work has been distributed around the world on platforms that include Discovery, A & E, C4, National Geographic and CBC, among others.
Over the past three years, Keren has been the Senior Producer at Gusto Worldwide Media. In her role, she is responsible for developing and producing exciting new content for Gusto’s multiple international channels. Keren has produced multiple international award-winning series, specials, and introduced new, ground-breaking ways of producing food television.
Keren is currently producing and directing two seasons of a globally inspired, vegetarian cooking series, as well as developing an exciting slate of new shows and genre-defying content.
