WORKSHOP (Virtual)

Understanding the Ottawa Film Bylaw

with Events Central, City of Ottawa
Friday, December 10, 2021 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Location: Virtual/Online

This workshop is a great intro to new and emerging filmmakers who have been wondering: When do I need to use a film permit? What should I know about filming in the City of Ottawa? This workshop, presented by the City of Ottawa’s Event Central, is going to go over the essential information that filmmakers should know when it comes to accessing film permits, including when you should request a permit, the application process, the paperwork and the insurance requirements.

This is a virtual workshop open to any and all new and emerging filmmakers.

Event Central serves as the first point of contact for filming requests at the City of Ottawa and is responsible for providing a consolidated assessment of these requests and coordinating integrated planning efforts with applicable City Departments and other community stakeholders, such as Business Improvement Associations. Justice Firdawsi is a Special Event and Film Advisor. He is the first point of contact for all film permit submissions and leads the majority of film permitting at the City of Ottawa.
